2021 Conference Consultations

CONSULTATIONS

Once again, we are offering One-on-One Manuscript Consultations, Book Dummy Consultations, and Portfolio Consultations with our faculty over zoom. These all are first-come, first-served opportunities for you to get an opinion from a professional. You may sign up for ONE consultation.  If you had an editor or agent consultation last May, please consider giving someone else a chance this year and choose one of our fabulous authors or illustrators instead.

Fees: The fee is $50 for manuscript consultations and portfolio consultations, and $60 for book dummy consultations.  Consultation fees are nonrefundable! Don’t miss submission deadlines! We must receive your manuscript by May 21st! See instructions for illustration deadlines.

Each consultation is 14 minutes, no more. We allow 1 minute for passing time.

PLEASE READ complete instructions and guidelines to know what each faculty member is looking for. Click 1-on-1 Consultation Instructions  for  instructions on all types of consultations (manuscript, picture book dummy, or portfolio). We must receive your submission by May 21st!

Please remember that a consultation is not a pitching session, it is your chance to get feedback and suggestions on how to improve and/or market your work. If your critiquer is an editor or agent, she will tell you if she would like you to send the project after the conference. But don’t count on it.

Read  below what each individual faculty member wants sent (genre, page length, etc.). Do not send more! (Of course, you did read their bios, and look at editor & agent houses or agencies, right?)
