Congratulations to the winners of the Portfolio Show at our 2016 Spring Conference.
Erin grew up in Southern California where she studied illustration at Cal State Fullerton. When her now husband, Ryan moved home to Oregon after school, she traded in palm trees for pine trees. They now live in Sherwood, OR, where you might find Erin working on projects for Fischer-Price or ABC Mouse, or writing/illustrating her own picture books. If not, she's probably at the bank where she works part time as a teller, playing with her dog Scout, or maybe playing volleyball. After the SCBWI Summer Conference last year, Erin had the best birthday ever when she got her first ever agent! (Danielle Smith of Red Fox Literary)
Nat Iwata is an Illustrator/Author from Ridgefield, WA, just across the river from Portland. Over the past 10 years as a full-time artist he has worked on dozens of video games, a few board games, 3 books, and a lot in between. Despite the medium, Nat is passionate about making art, all the time, and drinking enough coffee to do so. He is married to the beautiful, wonderfully talented writer and poet Erin Iwata, and together they are attempting to raise 3 rambunctious boys, who serve as an endless source of inspiration.
I like to create safe and tranquil worlds filled with gentle Beings. My background is in fine art; I've shown in galleries since the late 90's. Four years ago, I started publishing picture books through Amazon's CreateSpace. I've been working digitally when creating picture books. (I use the Procreate app on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil.) The digital process allows me to use my painterly style while streamlining the process. I am currently looking for representation with the goal of traditional publishing. My working studio is in Burien, WA.
