We are offering One-on-One Manuscript Consultations with our faculty. These are first-come, first-serve opportunities for you to get an opinion from a professional. You may choose one member of the faculty to review your work. Sign up when you register. Fees are nonrefundable. The cost is $50. Individual consultations will take place during workshops. Each consultation is 14 minutes. We allow 1 minute for passing time. If you have never had a professional consultation before, we strongly recommend that you choose the author or author/illustrator for your critique. You may only choose the editor or agent if you have had a previous critique at a SCBWI event, are in a critique group, are a PAL author OR have attended two or more SCBWI conferences.
Please remember that an Editor or Agent consultation is not a pitching session–it's an opportunity to get a professional's feedback and suggestions on how to improve and/or market your work. The editor or agent will tell you if they'd like for you to send your project after the event (it's wise to resist the temptation to count on that happening).
We cannot guarantee you a written critique, although we have asked our faculty to do so and have given them SCBWI's Gold Critique Form as a suggested method.
Manuscript Deadline: January 20, 2017
Manuscripts must be received (NOT post-marked, but received by hand by January 20. If you do not meet the deadline, you will be disqualified and will forfeit your consultation fee. We do not accept email submissions. Consultations are nonrefundable.
