We are back at our beloved Silver Falls for this year’s fall retreat. We have fantastic speakers in a fantastic location. The fall colors should be great, making this a wonderful place to learn and work. We think this will be a retreat to remember, so Follow Your Star and join us!

We will have a Mini Book Launch on Friday morning, an Illustrators’ Showcase on Saturday, Peer Critique Sessions by Genre on Friday, Round-the-Cabin Faculty Critique Sessions on Saturday, Open Mic on Friday and Saturday, an Illustrator Portfolio Display, and One-on-One Consultations for manuscripts, portfolios and book dummies.


Cedar Interior


The conference center is located 1.5 miles from the campground off Highway 214 at Silver Falls State Park.The lodges (Alder, Blueberry, Cedar and Dogwood) are similar to a suite style living space with six separate guest rooms with two twin beds each. There are two shared bathrooms complete with showers in each. You'll feel very much like you are a part of the wilderness with towering trees surrounding the lodges, Big Leaf Dining Hall and Smith Creek meeting room. Exquisite falls are nearby.




Early Bird by September 1st: Members $395, Nonmembers $445. After September 1st, the rates go up to: Members $445, Nonmembers $495. Manuscript critiques and portfolio critiqes are $45 each; picture book dummy critiques are $55. All other opportunities are free. This event will be limited to 48 attendees.

No refunds after October 1st. There will be a $15 handling fee on all refunds.


Registration opens on August 15th at 9:00 a.m. Registration closes on October 1st at 11:59 p.m. Please note that the registration fee includes a shared room and all meals. Members, log in to the system to register and it will autofill your information. You will pay by credit or debit card. If you wish to pay offline by check, send your check immediately after you register to: SCBWI-OR, P.O. Box 990, Mulino, OR 97024. Please indicate that it is for the fall retreat and if your registration name is differenct from the name on the check, please indicate your registration name. We must receive your check within one week of your registration to reserve your space. Sorry, we are not using PayPal anymore.
