APRIL Webinar Presenter: Leslie Barnard Booth

APRIL Topic: Picture Books as Poetry

In picture books as in poetry, every word matters. Language can make a picture book sing–or fall flat. In this presentation, we focus on the rhythm and musicality of picture book language, and discuss techniques applicable to both fiction and nonfiction. We analyze a range of mentor texts–some quiet and lyrical, some loud and uproarious–for literary devices and poetic structures that make children (and their adults!) want to read the same book again and again.

Bio: Leslie Barnard Booth
