SCBWI Oregon’s professional series is here to help bring your writing and illustration skills to The Next Level. Whether you’re plotting a novel or perfecting a picture book, our TNL sessions can give you tools to advance your career. All levels of experience welcome.
We meet on the third Saturday of each month at Alongsiders Church located at 2830 NE Flanders in Portland. (You’ll love our new location!) Doors open at 2:15 pm, and speakers start at 2:30 pm. At 3:30 we’ll have a time for Q&A and/or book sales. The series runs from September 2019 through April 2020—except for December—but each session is different!

September Topic: Using Technology to Research Agents (or Editors)
You’ve created your manuscript or illustrations, revised and polished, and now it’s time to submit. It’s great getting to meet agents and editors in person, but we often need to “meet” them via the internet.
This workshop will cover helpful resources for finding and learning more about potential agents and editors. We’ll discuss a variety of tools: Manuscript Wish List, some blog and podcast resources, Twitter, and more.
Bio: Sue has been researching agents using technology herself. She hasn’t found the perfect match yet, but is pressing on. She’s written for magazines, done work-for-hire picture books and easy readers, and wants to sell her YA novel in verse. She teaches for the Institute of Children’s Literature and is an SCBWI Regional Advisor Emerita.
