Welcome

Welcome to SCBWI Oregon!

Headed by two Co-Regional Advisors, an Illustrator Coordinator, and a committee of volunteers, SCBWI Oregon offers a Spring Conference every other May (we alternate with Western Washington) and usually a Retreat in the fall. We are constantly updating our Events page with new happenings. Some programs are aimed at specific groups within our membership, such as beginners, illustrators or PAL members, and others are open to everyone.

Besides a biannual conference in the spring and a fall retreat our programs include:

  • The Great Critique – twice a year
  • Level Up (NEW in 2023): A craft-based webinar series with varied topics – Fall-Spring
  • The Write Direction – always free – various locations and dates
  • New Member Tea – fall
  • Intensives – smaller workshops in non conference years

Go to the front page calendar or the Events page for more details on upcoming Events.

Communication to You

We publish the bimonthly NewsWorthy which offers regular columns, feature articles, information about local events, publishing tidbits, critique information, and illustrations and good news from our members. The current and previous issues are available to members only on the Newsletter page. Newsletter deadlines and who to submit to are here.

The Co-RAs also send out a bimonthly communication, Cloudy with a Chance of Ideas. It is usually sent on the first Monday of every other month, alternating months with the NewsWorthy

These are both announced via the SCBWI eblast system, which you’ll receive unless you have opted out of emails from SCBWI. We also email special announcements, such as when conference or retreat registration will be opening.

We have an SCBWI Oregon Facebook page, which often has reminders.

We’re also on Twitter.
